Udupi, May 19: Kaup beach near here witnessed a tragic incident on the evening of Monday may 18. A boy drowned in the sea and lost his life there.
The boy has been identified as Sunil Acharya (13), son of Vadiraj Acharya, a resident of Halekatte in Karkala taluk. The boy had come to the home of his grandmother in Majoor village near here to spend holidays. He had come to the beach with some neighbourhood boys. Reportedly, he had ventured into the sea to wash his feet but was dragged away due to the force of the waves.
The local fishermen launched an operation immediately to find out his body. Kaup policemen have registered a case.
