Beltangady: Medical Negligence Case Registered against Attending Doctor

Beltangady, May 20: In a complaint filed with the local policemen against the doctor of a nursing home, a family from Venur Moodla village has alleged medical negligence on the part of the said obstetrician, holding him responsible for the death of a puerperal woman. The case relatives to the death of a woman named Keshavati (28), wife of Yashodhar Poojary from Kodange in Aladangady.

After she conceived, Keshavati was being referred to a private hospital in Badyar for regular check up. Parents of Keshavati had admitted her for delivery, to a private nursing home located on Siddakatte main road and she gave birth to a baby girl on May 17. The delivery was normal, but Keshavati started suffering from haemorrhage and some other complications. The doctor of the nursing home advised to admit her in to the government hospital in Mangalore for advanced care, but she died on way to Mangalore.

The family has said, Keshavati died due to the negligence of the attending doctor. The medical officer of the nursing home has taken the stand that the doctor had taken every care and made all efforts to look after of her and that the hospital staff had been deputed to look after her while being shifted to Mangalore and that there was no negligence of the hospital or its staff in her death.
