Udupi: Drowned Teenager’s Body Found near Kaup Light House

Udupi, May 20: The mortal remains of a boy who was dragged away by the waves in to the sea on Monday May 18, was found washed ashore near the Kaup Light House at about 7 am on Wednesday May 20.

The deceased teenager has been identified as Sunil Acharya (13), son of Vadiraj Acharya, a resident of Halekatte in Karkala taluk. He had been on a visit to his grandmother’s home in Majoor village near Kaup, to spend his summer vacation.

Sunil, who went to the beach with the neighbourhood boys, had got down into the sea to wash his feet but was later sucked into the sea due to the force of the waves.

Sunil, who hailed from poor family, was the eighth standard student of Halekatte School.

The dead body was found by the local fishermen, who had been searching for the boy after he went missing, under the guidance of Padmanabha Suvarna and Suri Shetty. The dead body was taken from the Light House to the hospital for post mortem, by the police officials.
