Sullia: My Victory Signals Triumph of Hindutva - Nalin Kumar

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, May 21: "My firm belief is that my victory from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha seat is not mine, but of Hindutva," said newly elected member of parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel.

He was addressing a thanksgiving programme for the voters, organized near the local bus stand on Wednesday May 20. Earlier in the day, Kateel was led in a victory procession that started from Lal Bahadur Shastri Circle in the city to Gandhi Nagar.

"I will treat every one equally. Development will be the only goal for me in the coming days. I am committed to meet the promises made to my voters," he declared.

Maintenance of peace, harmony besides maintaining law and order in the district, and achieving development through well-conceived plans would be on top of the agenda, he added.  Nalin revealed that he chose to start his victory march from Sullia, as it happens to be his birth place and the region where he got the highest lead in the election.

MLA S Angara, Karnataka Development Corporation chairman S N Manmatha, BJP block committee president A V Teertharam etc addressed the audience. Taluk panchayat president Pushspavati, vice president Shankar Peraje, zilla panchayat members Venkat Dambekody, Bhagirati, Satish Naik and various other leaders were present.

12 out of 15 lokasabha elections were fought on issues of development, education, social equality, good governance and internal and external security. Why now election is fought on religious lines? Does it not expose BJP''s weakness and devisive policy and appeasement of majority.

You are right Mr Santhosh Poojary. MS Renuka Chowdary made a big issue of the pub attack in Mangalore and she herself lost in her place that too in a margin of more than a lakh. Jai ho BJP.

India has/is become a great country not because of Hindutva but because Indian people have always been so understanding, respectful of others'' religions and so tolerant. I hereby would like to reproduce a letter written by a reader to the New Yoork times as below: New York Times reader comment on India going to the polls, "The world''s biggest exercise in democracy" April 15, 2009 It is truly the greatest show on Earth, an ode to a diverse and democratic ethos, where 700 million of humanity vote, providing their small part in directing their ancient civilization into the future. I

t is no less impressive when done in a neighborhood which includes de-stabilizing and violent Pakistan, China, and Burma. Its challenges are immense, more so probably than anywhere else, particularly in development and fending off terrorism but considering these challenges and its neighbors, it is even more astounding that the most diverse nation on Earth, with hundreds of languages, all religions and cultures, is not only surviving, but thriving.

The nation where Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism were born, which is the second largest Muslim nation on Earth where Christianity has existed for 2000 years where the oldest Jewish synagogues and Jewish communities have resided since the Romans burnt their 2nd temple where the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile reside where the Zorostrians from Persia have thrived since being thrown out of their ancient homeland where Armenians and Syrians and many others have to come live where the Paris-based OECD said was the largest economy on Earth 1500 of the last 2000 years, including the 2nd largest only 200 years ago where 3 Muslim Presidents have been elected, where a Sikh is Prime Minister and the head of the ruling party a Catholic Italian woman, where the President is also a woman, succeeding a Muslim President who as a rocket scientist was a hero in the nation where a booming economy is lifting 40 million out of poverty each year and is expected to have the majority of its population in the middle class, already equal to the entire US population, by 2025 where its optimism and vibrancy is manifested in its movies, arts, economic growth, and voting, despite all the incredible challenges and hardships where all the great powers are vying for influence, as it itself finds its place in the world.

Where all of this is happening, is India, and as greater than 1/10 of humanity gets ready to vote, it is an inspiration to all the World. — V Mitchell, New York, NY Sometimes we underestimate ourselves. It takes a another to put into perspective what a great nation we really are (or come from) and our tremendous achievement in the face of what appear to be insurmountable odds. Let us hope we can continue to remain the peaceful and tolerant people we have been through history. When instances of fanaticism and fundamentalism rear their ugly heads, we must realize that they are the exception

Dear Mr. Naleen Kumar, I''m so happy, you won the election and became MP.  But please give the preference for development of your region. Please use your power to improve the social quality of the people. Do the development work without any personal goal. Next time, the fame will follow you . All the best. serve the country

The issue of Hindutva is truly exploited by BJP to gain power and quite true for Nalin to credit his victory to Hindutva. Issue is now interpretation of Hindutva, it is revenge for some, who are made to believe minorities are exploiting majority, while some other it is safe guarding of traditions to some. Traditions mostly I believe discarded by individual families for constraints of space, money and progress made by themselves,

While the minority exploiting the majority, is also a kind of hype created to bring togethor different communities. So, there is no visible enemy or a target to go after. Now that since the Hindutva agenda is confined and isolated after this election only to Karnataka, I wonder what the public is going to expect from their elected leaders to do for Hindutva, or are the MPs going to dump it as they are already achieved their objective which is power. Need to wait and watch.

this whole world ( mostly christian and muslim ) is divided in different religious and sectarian groups mostly for power and pelf. but then such pursuits of power by its very nature can only be for limited few i. e politicians or ruling class. and for rest of the people the religion is mobilising tool used by these power intoxicated people. so before trying to find meaning of hindutva try to find out why this whole world is after power. and mind you , you will find this intense struggle going on in this whole world and even in our country is for not some noble purpose but for power. hindutva is merely an attempt to crroect this imbalance which is mainly due to the reason that two great religions islam and christian can never be separated from political and social power struggle. hinduism with all its weaknesses ensures extreme freedom to each individual to follow their path which may even amount to being a non believer. so now to the question why hindutva? do i need to point out that it is a mere reaction and that too a mild one to extremism promoted by others.

Is Hindutva is only practised in South Canara? And Where Congress or other partiies won the elections has no Hindus and not practicing the religion. Come on, had all Hindus were of same thought of Nalin Kumar, all seats in the country would have been won by BJP only. I would say most of the Hindus are kind and peace loving and and they differ from the ideologies of BJP.

Nalin Kumar''s victory from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha seat is naturally not his, but of Hindutva alias RSS because he was a hardcore RSS. Nobody in the District knows him except in Sullia RSS circle. Now let him ask RSS what next? Let him appoint Janardhana Poojary as his spokesperson to speak inside the Parliament because he cannot speak & Mr. Poojary got all the experience to take our local issue to the Centre. God Bless DK and thank God that over all India used brains & not emotion to vote Congress otherwise the Sensex would have gone all time low. The people of DK are literate but not educated, they still play communal card.
