Udupi: Police Arrest Members of Gang Conspiring to Commit Murder

Udupi, May 21: District deputy superintendent of police Jayant V Shetty, district crime intelligence bureau inspector Srinivasraj B S and other personnel arrested four persons, who were hatching a murder conspiracy near Ajjarkad Stadium here on Wednesday May 20. Weapons including swords and knives were recovered from their possession.

The arrested men have been identified as Rattady Sudhakar Poojary (31), Uday Poojary (30) from Siddapur, Karate Krishna Nayak (28) from Brahmavar and Satish Shetty alias Mani Shetty (41) from Kunjoor. Another member of the gang named Harish Reddy from Kota is said to be absconding.

The policemen had collected information that a murder plot was being hatched to settle a score in connection with a long-standing enmity between Uday Poojary and Shekhar Naik from Siddapur. Thereafter, they kept a close watch on the movement of the gang members. The police personnel have claimed that with this arrest, a tragedy has been averted.

Absconding Harish Reddy is said be a renowned ruffian, involved with murder and murder attempts in the past and some cases in which he was involved, are being heard in courts. The policemen have collected information about the underworld connection of the gang and are trying to crack several murder plot cases, by interrogating the arrested men. Arrested persons and weapons have been handed over to the town police station here for further investigation.
