Kundapur: Accident near Hemmadi Claims One Life

Kundapur, May 22: Shaji (33) from Kerla, who was seriously injured in an accident involving two cars on Moovattumudi Bridge near Hemmadi in the taluk on national highway 17, breathed his last while being taken to Manipal Hospital. The accident occurred at around 8 am on Thursday May 21.

After the Maruti Wagon-R car that was going to Kerala from Bhatkal hit the Maruti Swift car moving towards Udupi from Byndoor, one of the cars was tossed into the roadside gorge. Both the cars were badly mangled in the incident, and all the occupants of the two cars were injured.

The policemen said, the occupants of both the cars were tourists. The injured are  Shyam Badal (39), Srikant Badal (44) and Smita Badal (36) from Bhatkal and Siraj Mohammed(29)from Kerala. While Smita and her child were admitted into a private hospital in Kundapur, others were taken to Manipal Hospital.

A case has been registered in Kundapur police station in this regard.
