Mumbai, Jul 2: Vighnahartha Mahaganapathi Seva Mandal celebrated its annual Saraswath festival at Dahisar east on Sunday June 30.

‘Bayo’ Konkani film producer Nagendra Kamath was chief guest. Mohandas Mallya was on the dais as guest of honor. The guests honored special achievers in the community and distributed scholarships to school children.

Sujatha, Jayalaxmi and Varija sang a prayer song. Secretary N Srinivas Nayak welcomed the gathering. Honorary treasurer Bharath V Kamath rendered the vote of thanks.

A silent prayer was said for members, well wishers and artistes who passed away during the year. Secretary N Srinivas Nayak gave details of previous year’s meeting and annual activities. Honorary treasurer Bharath V Kamath tabled the previous year’s accounts.

Fancy dress and dance competitions were held for children. Members and children presented variety entertainment and dances. ‘Babu’ a Konkani drama written by Vasanth R Nayak was enacted at the end.
