This is a common news we get during the start of Monsoon (Mungaaru) and closing of Monsoon (Hingaru). The lightening strike takes many lives every year. The authority and neighbours visit and give condolences and return. So far no concrete remedy or guidance for the rural people about their safety during the incidents were made. No study of earlier lightening strikes were conducted and guiding the people about the seriousness of lightening. We can see uneducated people freely walk on the open places and kids playing while thunderstorms were pounding heavily. Some are of deep knowledge that it is the GODS Play!!!! We also hear about strikes in the same places every year in Karkal Taluk. May be the rich iron content of quarries attract the lightening. If so, atleast some lightening arresters should be erected in places were more strikes were reported every year. I also saw 2 incidents of strike happened in front of me. Hope the District Administration will look these havocs and make scientific analysis of the same. Let all of us demand the authorities to find some scientific solutions for these problems.
