Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai (SHP)

Mumbai, Jul 3: The water logging situation in the city is getting shoddier with each day and now according to reports by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a high tide of 4.69 metres is expected to hit the city around 12 in the noon which will considerably worsen the already existing problem.

Futher, IMD has also predicted a low tide of 1.58 metre to hit the city around 6.34 pm early evening today. According to weather experts, drains and small tributaries generally bound to flow into the sea, now with intensity of the high tide, the flow of water from these tributaries will be blocked causing a situation similar to a flood.

In a forecast for other states, IMD released a warning for areas such as Indore, Bhopal and Jabalpur. Although monsoons have arrived in Madhya Pradesh, cities like Gwalior and Chambal will still have to wait for the rains.

The regions of Chattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Coastal Karnataka, South Gujarat, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Telegana are predicted to receive quite heavy rainfall according to IMD.

Prevailing condition in Mumbai is very precarious with flooded areas and slum dwellers settled in various places. Also, with some decades old residential buildings which are hardly maintained. These are the beginning of worse days in due to changing weather patterns.
