Mangalore: Bus Plunges off Road into Gorge near Pavanje - 10 Injured

Mangalore, May 22: After a bus moving from Kinnigoly to the city plunged into a 20-feet deep gorge beside the Pavanje bridge near Haleangady on national highway 17 on Thursday May 21, ten passengers sustained injuries.

It is said, the driver, while trying to overtake another vehicle at great speed, lost control over the vehicle. Passengers Shamshuddin, Navin, Zohara, Umairabanu, Padmanabh Mendon and Vittal Salian sustained serious injuries including fractures while others escaped with minor nicks and cuts, reports said. The injured are being treated at a private hospital in Suratkal

Mulki policemen have registered a case, based on a complaint filed by Navin (29) from Haleangady, who was travelling in the said bus. The policemen have registered case of negligent driving against the bus driver Parameshwar.  Investigations are on.
