Sullia: State Chutuku Sahitya Sammelan to be held on May 23, 24

Sullia, May 23: The 18th state Chutuku Sahitya Sammelan will be held at Arameri Kalanchari Mutt of Viraj Pete on Saturday May 23 and Sunday May 24.

The event is being jointly organized by Kodagu district Sahitya Parishat and Central Chutuku Sahitya Parishat.

Dr Chidanand Kolambe, Kuvempu University retired chancellor, will inaugurate the Sammelan while Dr S S Marulaiah will preside over the programme, said Dr M J R Aras, central committee convener.

Veteran poet Subraya Chokkadi will inaugurate the poet's meet and Sri Shanta Mallikarjuna Swamiji will preside over the event.

Apart from the above, multi-linguistic poets’ meet, seminar, an awards ceremony to confer Chutuku Ratna and Chutuku Bhushana awards will also be held on the occasion.

Renowned poet V G Nayak will be honoured with the 'Chutuku Ratna' award for his special contribution to the field of limericks, said Ira Nemu Poojary, Dakshina Kannada District Chutuku Sahitya Parishat president. 

V G Nayak is known for his famous short poems like 'Olagoodinalli', 'Golagummatta' and 'Nelagumma' He also presided over the Chutuku Poets’ conference held during the All India 73rd Kannada Sahitya Sammelan at Shimoga and Chutuku Sahitya Sammelan at Bantwal, he said in a release.
