Udupi, May 23: The Muhurat for the Kannada movie named 'Gandhi Hatye' and its Hindi version titled, 'Let us kill Gandhi’ was held at Alevoor Ganesh Mandir here, on Friday, May 22.

The shooting for the film is being held simultaneously for both the versions. The films are being produced by directors themselves without the help of producers. After production, they will be sold. Therefore, they are known as independent films. Entrepreneur Sridhar Shetty and Ranjana Sridhar Shetty initiated the shooting.

Young director Rakshit Shetty is in charge of direction of the Hindi film, while the Kannada movie is being directed by Aniruddh.

Almost the entire star cast in the films is made up of theatre artistes. Shooting will take place in Bangalore, Shimoga and Udupi regions. The shooting is proposed to be completed within 40 days.

The theme of the film hovers around the gradual erosion of Gandhian principles.
