Koppal, May 25: In a rare incident, activists chased Minister to demand action regarding district hospital.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sriramulu was chased, here on Sunday night, by activists of Jaya Karnataka organisation to present an appeal for immediate action with regard to the district hospital.

The Cabinet Minister first tried to shake them off but finally had to yield and heard them out and also assured immediate steps to set up a hospital in the district.

Plan for gherao

When the Jaya Karnataka association members, led by taluk unit president Vijay Kumar Kavalur learnt that Minister B Sriamulu was going to pass by the town, they waited at the Ashoka circle to gherao him. The minister’s car passed by without stopping and the activists who were determined to catch him chased him on the fifteen motorbikes.

When the Minister’s car halted at a roadside dhabha, on the outskirts of the city, the activists followed and stopped there. When they tried to talk to the Minister he did not like the fact that he was chased and a verbal altercation ensued, told taluk president of the Jaya Karnataka Vijaykumar Kavalur .

Minister promises

He said the Minister tried to dodge them by saying that the land in question was under litigation. However the activists did not heed to it and insisted that he give them answer. Finally the Minister assured that he would resolve the issue at the earliest.

The Jaya Karnataka activists have also planned to hold a protest march on 25 May, demanding a hospital for the district.
