Puttur: Veteran Scholar Taltaje Krishna Bhat No More

Puttur, May 26: Senior scholar, writer and author of Yakshagana eipsodes, Taltaje Krishna Bhat (92), breathed his last at his residence here on Monday, May 25.

He has left behind three sons including retired head of Kannada department, Mumbai University Dr Vasant Kumar Taltaje and four daughters.

Dr Taltaje had secured Vidwat degree from Madras University in Kannada and Sanskrit subjects. He was a Rashtra Bhasha Visharad in Hindi and had worked as teacher for some time. Nine of his works including Yakshagana episodes have been published so far.

The work, 'Yakshaprabha' authored by him, won the Karnataka Sahitya Academy award. His unpublished work, 'Bheeshma Charitam' had won the ‘Kadengodlu’ award for prose. He was the president of the second Puttur Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelan and worked as the editor of 'Abhydaya' Kannada monthly in the past.
