Mangalore: Day-long Tulu Variety Events Scheduled at Pilikula Open Air Theatre

Mangalore, May 29: Pilikula Nisargadhama Society Heritage Village and Tulu Research Centre, Angadimane, Peroor, in Udupi district, will be jointly organizing ‘Ravi Kiranotsav’ photo exhibition, debate on photography and its intrinsic value, screening of Tulu movie, poetry session and weekly cultural programme, from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm on Sunday May 31.  It will be held at the Pilikula open air theatre, located near the boating centre in Pilikula Nisargadhama, here.

Moodbidri Alva’s Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva will inaugurate the programme on Sunday morning.

Veteran journalist A Eshwarayya will preside over the programme. Veteran multi lingual poet M K Ravindranath will be the chief guest.

Yajna Mangalore and Karunakar (Kalpita) will moderate the debate on Photography and its intrinsic value, from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm on Sunday.  It will be attended by lens men Sudakar Yermal, Satish Ira, Prabhakar, Ravi Posavanike, Narayan Balila, Ahmed Anwar and Keshav Kudla.

Extempore poetry session will be held from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm, to be attended by veteran poets Konchady Sitaram Bhat, M Ratna Kumar, Sadanand Naravi, Dinesh Holla, Siddakatte Mallika Shetty, J F D’Souza Attavar, Peroor Jaru, Vidya Vamanjoor, Anand Paniyoor, Shweta Jain, Sudha Nagesh, Udupi Chandra, Malati Acharya, Ganesh Salian, Malati Shetty Manoor and Sharada Tenka Karandoor.

The concluding ceremony, which will be presided over by former state president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat and philanthropist Harikrishna Punaroor, will be held between 4.00 pm and 5.00 pm.

Eminent scholar Dr Amrut Someshwar will deliver the valedictory address.

Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president M B Abdul Rehman will be the chief guest. 

Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy member Udaya Dharmasthala will propose vote of thanks.

The week-end cultural extravaganza will be held from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm on Sunday.

Ratnavati Baikady and group will render epic poetry, followed by LCD show, ‘Pilikula Darshana’. Yakshagana dance-drama performance and variety sage programmes, will also be held at the occasion.
