Udupi, May 30: Udupi CMC President Dinakar Shetty assured to take all possible measures to curb the interference of the agents in the affairs of the revenue department.

Speaking at the general body meeting of the CMC here on Friday, he informed that a meeting will be convened in the presence of CMC commissioner and the revenue department officials concerned soon. Stringent actions will be taken against the agents who are involved in the matters of the revenue department. Warning will be issued to the officers who deal with the agents.

Member Kiran Kumar alleged “the revenue officials are involved with agents. As a result, public works get delayed. This attitude of the revenue officials will create bad impression among public on CMC. No actions have been taken even after complaint was registered with the officials. If CMC fails to take up the issue, members will come forward to take action and curb the menace,” he said.

CMC Commissioner Narayanappa said it is difficult to differentiate between people and  agents.

Members Shyam Kudva, Mohan Upadhaya and M R Pai raised the issue of water logged roads in Badagupete, Kalsanka-Kadiyali, Vidyasamudra owing to artificial flood.

The artificial floods are creating inconvenience to the people.

They said “PWD officials are least concerned and behave irresponsibly with regard to the problem of drainage blocks.”

Shetty informed that a meeting will be convened to discuss the problem within two days. Plan will be chalked out to construct temporary drainage system to avoid artificial floods.

We will also inform DC on the behaviour of the PWD officials.

Members also urged to solve the problems of underground drainage system in Kalyanpur, Malpe and Gopalpur.

Shetty informed “Rs 10 lakh has been earmarked  to conduct a survey to implement underground drainage system. Work will be resumed once the survey is completed,” he said.
