Mangalore, May 31: To build the party at the grassroots level and to give importance to the party workers, JD(S) will conduct internal election to the taluk, district and state level office-bearers, said JD(S) spokesperson Y S V Datta.

Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, he said membership drive will be launched on June 11. All the office-bearers of various units will tender resignation and election will be conducted within three months. All the party units will be reorganised, he added.

Datta said JD(S) has taken a firm decision to keep an equi-distance away from BJP and Congress. In case of necessity in the local bodies, JD(S) will not support communal party at any cost, instead it will support a secular party.  He said the Lok Sabha poll result clearly showed the existence of the party in the State.

The achievement of BJP rule in the State in the last one year include ‘privatisation,’ ‘commercialisation’ and ‘saffronisation.’ Even 30 per cent of the assurances made in the budget is not implemented by the government.

“If one looks from outside, all the programmes of the government are pro-people. However, when one goes deeper into the programmes, one can clearly see the hidden agenda of promotion of the party,” he said.

The ‘majority’ which BJP got through ‘Operation Kamala’ will be unhealthy for the party itslef, he added.
