Bantwal: Truck Barges into Shop - Two Sustain Serious Injuries

Bantwal, Jun 1: A truck went astray after its driver lost control over it and barged into a roadside shop in Nerlakatte village in the taluk on the evening of Sunday, May 31. Two persons were grievously injured in the incident.

The injured have been identified as shop owner Abbas (40) and customer Abdul Latif (32) from Bhagawanta Kody. Both of them were admitted into a private hospital in Mangalore.

The truck, loaded with goods, was going towards Puttur from Mangalore, when it collided with a Tipper coming from the opposite direction. Before the truck driver could regain his composure and steer it properly, it swerved to the roadside and hit a shop where omelettes were being sold.  The roof of the shop was destroyed due to the impact of the accident. The walls and ceiling of the shop has developed cracks and the loss is estimated at a few lacs of rupees.

Vittal policemen have registered a case and are investigating.
