Shimoga: Tourist Slips, Meets Watery Grave at Jog

Shimoga, Jun 1: A youth, who had come to enjoy the grandeur of the world-famous Jog Falls near Sagar in the district, slipped and fell into river Sharavati on Sunday May 31. The victim has been identified as Arunraj (21), a third year B Sc nursing course student of Icon College Bangalore.

Arun had arrived at Jog Falls in the company of 43 other students. He was a native of Kollam district, Kerala. The group of students was to move to Murdeshwar from here, in the afternoon.

It is said, the youth went down the slope to have the glimpse of the falls from close quarters and climbed up a huge rock. Accidentally, he fell from the rock and drowned in the water of 'Rocket' falls that forms part of the Jog Falls, it is learnt.
