Puttur, Jun 2: By-election for Panaje zilla panchayat constituency in the taluk is being held on June 14. The by election has been necessitated on account of the death of Karunakar Pervody, a BJP candidate, who was representing the constituency in the zilla panchayat.

Triveni Karunakar Pervody, wife of the deceased member, filed her nomination papers as a BJP candidate for the seat, on Monday June 1. MLA Mallika Prasad, BJP district vice-president A Rukmaya Poojary, BJP constituency committee president Nanya Achut Moditaya, general secretary Sanjeev Matandoor etc were present on the occasion.

Yashoda S Poojary of the CPI (M) also filed her nomination for this seat on Monday. Party leaders P K Satishan, B M Bhat and Shivaprasad were present.

JD (S) Puttur assembly constituency committee president K S N Nidvannaya has informed that Basheer Boodiyar will be fielded as the party candidate for the said by election.
