Beltangady: Angered Lover beats Up Girl and her Husband

Beltangady, Jun 2: In an incident reported from Surya in Ujire in the taluk, a youth, who was angered by the decision taken by his lover to desert him and marry someone else, came with a group of friends and assaulted the couple, on Monday June 1.

The accused has been identified as Bharatraj Rai, a resident of Soodimullu in Badagannur village in Puttur taluk. He along with his accomplices Anant K, Guru alias Gurprasad Rai, Sharat Rai etc., reportedly waited near Surya temple. As his ex-girl friend Chaitra and her husband Janardhan came there, they assaulted both of them, a complaint filed with the policemen said.

The couple was on a visit to Dharmasthala and Surya Lord Sadashiva temples. Bharatraj is accused of intercepting the Maruti Omni vehicle in which the couple was travelling, and beating them up. The policemen arrested Bharatraj and his accomplices. The local court has remanded them to 15 days judicial custody.
