Udupi: Accident near Kaup: Six Injured

Udupi, Jun 3: In an accident that occurred near Babbuswami Daivasthana, Kotalkatte near Kaup in the district on Tuesday June 2, six persons were injured. A Maruti Alto car coming to Mangalore from Goa and a mini-truck carrying raw mangoes to Sirsi from Mangalore, were involved in a head-on collision.

Entrepreneur Taresh Rai (46) and his mother-in-law Sunanda Kambli suffered injuries of serious nature in the incident. Taresh's wife Anita Rai (34), children Rakshit Rai (10) and Rakshan Rai (3) besides maid Yashoda (23) escaped with minor injuries. All the injured were travelling by the car.

Due to the impact of the collision, the axle of the mini truck fell to the ground, while the car turned around and stood across the highway, blocking the traffic.  Kaup police visited the spot, helped easing the traffic and registered a case. Investigation is on.
