Udupi: Escapee Under-trial Apprehended

Udupi, Jun 3: An under-trial prisoner named Lakshmeesh, who had assaulted a policeman and fled from the prisoners cell in Ajjakarkad government hospital here on April 23 last, was arrested from Mangalore in a joint operation conducted by the district crime intelligence bureau on Tuesday June 2.

Lakshmeesh, a resident of Manjeshwar in Kasargod district, was arrested while lurking near Padubidri to rob Syndicate Bank, Nandikoor branch in March this year. After he complained of health problems, he had been admitted into the government district hospital for treatment. On April 23, he had assaulted police constable Guruprasad who was on security duty at the time, and escaped from there.

Udupi town police station sub-inspector Maruti G Nayak, DCIB personnel Narayan, Ratnakar and others wer einvolved with this operation.
