Puttur, Jun 4: In an accident involving a government bus and an auto rickshaw at the Kermayi Cross of Mardhala near Kadaba on Wednesday June 3, Jayalakshmi (17), student of Kadaba government PU College, died on the spot. The accident occurred in the afternoon.  Jayalakshami was the daughter of Dorairaju, a rubber tapping worker, residing in Karmayi CRC of Nekkiladi village.

Her brother Selvendra (21) and rickshaw driver James (40), son of Andrews from Karmayi village have been admitted to a hospital in Mangalore with grave injuries. Selvendra has suffered serious wounds to his head and legs.

Jayalakshmi, who was to study in the second PU this year, had been to Mardhala to get medicine for her tooth ache.  Both the rickshaw and the body of the student got entangled at the bottom of the bus and the efforts of the local people and the policemen to remove them did not bear fruits. They could be brought only after a backhoe was pressed into service.

The driver''s in India are very reckless drinking and driving is a common thing which I had observed while I travelled from Manglore to Bombay many times.Indian RTO''s should impose a strict rule for a basic education at least SSLC and awareness of proper driving tecnic''s etc. Our Indian driver''s join as cleaner''s one or two years they will be driver''s.Catch some agent in RTO and get a license. severe punishment should be imposed for negligent and reckless driving.
