Puttur: Man Trying to Catch Fish by Detonating Explosives in Water Drowns

Puttur, Jun 4: In an incident that occurred Pajjadka of Alankar village in the taluk on the evening of Tuesday June 2, a drunken man who tried to fish in the waters of Kumaradhara River, drowned at Barkuli Gaya of the river.

Dhananjay Gowda (45), son of Koragu Gowda from Pajjadka Pallathadi and two others had gone to the river on Tuesday and collected fish by using explosives. Just before they were to leave for home, Dhanajay saw a half-dead fish and jumped into the river to catch it, even though his companions stopped him, never to come up again.

The policemen were informed of the incident only after Dhananjay's body floated in the water on Wednesday June 3 afternoon. The policemen have registered a case.
