Delegation to New Delhi should Comprise of All Party Leaders: Deshpande

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jun 5: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president R V Deshpande has suggested to the Chief Minister(CM) to ensure that the delegations he leads to the central government should have representatives from all the parties. He was speaking at a press conference held here on Thursday June 4.

"As far as development issues of the state are concerned, we do not have any differences of opinion. If the leaders of the ruling party alone take part in the delegations, others fail to properly get know about the assurances the Prime Minister(PM) would have given to the delegation. Hence, the CM should show the courtesy of inviting at least leaders of the main opposition party," he opined.

Deshpande said, the Congress Party has shown its commitment towards the women by giving the posts of the President of India and Lok Sabha speaker to women. More over, the fact that Sonia Gandhi heads the UPA is another example for the rising importance being given to women power in the country, he added.

"The day the Vijay Sankalp Samavesh of the BJP was held, proved to be a black day in the political career of the Chief Minister Yeddyurappa. Several, important ministers and legislators stayed away from the programme. With this, the internal dissidence of the BJP has come into the open. With this development, the administrative machinery has collapsed and the state's development has suffered a set back. The CM should take immediate steps to address these issues failing which we may have to take the route of friction," Deshpande warned.

He criticized the CM for failing to either issue clarifications or order inquiry on the allegations made by minister Eshwarappa. Eshwarppa too has lost credibility and shown that he is not fit to be a minister, by issuing a statement and then disowning  it later, he added. He also charged the BJP of postponing the assembly session to July instead of June, with the purpose of postponing the Brhut Bangalore Mahanagara Palike election, by obtaining the governor's permission. This is not proper. The Prime Minister has expressed displeasure about the basic facilities of the city. The CM should to lend an ear to the advice of the PM, he urged.
