Mangalore, May 7: Eminent Music composer and researcher Anant Amembal said that books should inspire and help people change their impressions of life. Delivering a talk on Men & Books at the World Konkani Centre recently organized in association with Sahitya Academy, and Konkani Bhas and Sanskrati Prathistan Amembal stated that he has read many books and whatever he read has left a life long impression on him giving a new dimension to his life.

Recalling his own experience where he was able to predict what the writer is about to say Anant pointed out that reading a particular writer over a period of time the reader is able to understand the writer and will be able to predict what the writer is going to say next which means the reader is able to establish a bonding with the writer and his thought process.

Talking about creativity in artistes he said “creativity has no walls or boundaries and an artiste should not fall in love with his work.  If they do so that would be the end of their creative output”, he asserted.  He also said the medium of art grasps so many aspects of life which go beyond human understanding.  Many Eminent Konkani writers from Goa including Pundalik Narayana Nayak were present on the occasion.

The talk was preceded by poetry recitation by many Konkani writers on the theme of “Vasanth Ruthu” (SprinG) eulogizing the spring season and its goodness on mother earth.  Men and women poets recited their poetry on this particular topic and the enthusiastic crowd responded with equal gusto.  An interesting part of the programme was the showcasing of the Italian movie The Postman after the talk, based on the life of famous Chilean poet and diplomat Pablo Neruda.
