Bangalore: Government Sets up Expenditure Reforms Commission

Bangalore, Jun 9: The state government, through an order, has set up Expenditure Reforms Commission headed by retired chief secretary B K Bhattacharya. The Commission has been entrusted with the task of conducting study on the implementation expenditure of various programmes and come out with recommendations for reducing non-development expenditure.

Infosys Technologies Ltd human resources department director T V Mohandas Pai, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore professor Vivek Murthy, finance department chief secretary and planning department chief secretary will be the members of this Commission. IAS officer C M Shirol will be the secretary.

The Commission's important function will be cutting down expenditure of implementing minor programmes and using the money so saved on more affective programmes. The Commission has been given a year's time to submit its report. It has also been requested to submit interim reports every three months.
