Udupi: Small Girl Crushed Under Gate's Weight

Udupi, Jun 12: Menni, a five-year-old girl, who was playing by climbing over the gate of an industry named Keerti Tiles at Madi in Cherkady village in the taluk, died on Thursday June 11 morning after the gate collapsed.

The girl, daughter of Bheemadas, a migrant labourer from Orissa, used to play by climbing on the gate. It is said, the mud around the gate had loosened due to heavy rains. When the girl was playing on the gate, the gate along with its main frame in addition to the supporting pillars got uprooted and fell on the girl. The girl's mother works in Keerti Tiles.

On a complaint filed by a person named Rajeev P Alva from Cherkady village, a case has been registered in Brahmavar police station.
