Bangalore: Muthoot Heist - Policemen Recover 34.60 kg Gold

Bangalore, Jun 12: The policemen have arrested nine accused persons relating to the robbery of Muthoot Mini Nidhi Finance in Jeevanbima Nagar here and recovered 34.60 kgs of gold ornaments from them.

The policemen said, the accused had hatched a plan to rob the finance company since the last two months and rented a house next to the finance company. They kept a close watch on the security system of the company and the movements of its manager, Issac John. After careful planning, they robbed the finance company, informed city police Shankar Bidari, in a press conference held here on Thursday June 11.

The arrested persons are Nirmal Kumar, Jayakumar, K G Bhaskaran, Das Prakash, Madivannan, Suresh, Sethu, Manoj and Laurel Hoodi. The value of the ornaments recovered is put around five crore rupees. Bidari claimed that this is the biggest-ever heist to have been unearthed in any of the police stations in the state. He revealed that the accused had hid themselves in Manali, Delhi, Tiruvannamalai and Mumbai to evade detection and had planned to sell the ornaments to Punjab-based gold merchants.
