Udupi: Required Infrastructure for Dist Govt Hospitals Soon: Acharya


Udupi, Jun 14 (DHNS):  'The Government is planning to develop required infrastructure in the district government hospitals of the State. Recruitment process to appoint the doctors for the government hospitals is on. The doctors are appointed through KPSC,” said Home Minister Dr V S Acharya. 

Speaking at a programme organised by the Rotary, Udupi, in association with Rotary Foundation (USA) and Rotary Club of Florissant (USA) to donate 140 KV generator under the matching grant project here at district Hospital in Ajjarkadu on Saturday, he said that a plan will be chalked out to provide basic infrastructure at the Udupi district hospital. The estimated cost will be Rs 3 to 4 crore.

No shortage

 There is no shortage of staff in the hospital. The hospital has 22 doctors in Ajjarkadu hospital. The total required staff is 23. Arrangements have been made for the visiting doctors to visit the hospital in association with KMC, he informed.

Lauding the contributions of Rotary organisations for their efforts to restrict the polio cases by involving in the Pulse Polio programme, Dr Acharya said there is considerable decrease in the number of polio cases reported in the State since 2002. One or two cases reported were the migrants from Bihar.

 Thanking the Rotary for providing the generator, he said it is highly desirable as the alternative source of energy to substitute the power failure in the hospital.
MP D V Sadananda Gowda said measures will be taken to upgrade the district hospital on the model of Wenlock Hospital of Mangalore.

Rotary Udupi District Governor Rtn PHF K Krishna Shetty handed over the 140 KV generator to the District Hospital.

Udupi-Chickmagalur MP Sadananda Gowda, Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Udupi DC Hemalatha, Hospital Development Committee President P Rabindra Nayak, District Surgeon Dayananda Nayak, Rotary Udupi President Ganesh Rao and others were present on the occasion.
