Mangalore: DK Police’s Unique Venture ‘Youth Club’ Inaugurated

Mangalore, Jun 20: Peace and harmony will prevail in society if the youth and police share a friendly relationship. Therefore it is important that efforts are made to bring youth into mainstream and encouraged to take up creative activities, said Panambur police sub-division officer Suresh R Naik.

He was speaking after inaugurating the unique project launched by Dakshina Kannada police, ‘Police-Youth club at a programme in Suratkal near here on Friday June 19.

Suratkal station officer Arun R Nayak speaking about the club explained that about 20 youth aged 20 to 39 under every extension coming under wards of every police station limit will be identified as members to form clubs. The members of these youth clubs will be entrusted with the duty of maintaining peace in the area, by bringing into mainstream the deviant youth through organizing creative activities such as sports and cultural programmes, under the supervision of police. The team of youth will be trained in this regard, he said.

Nayak said that in order to encourage capable members of these youth clubs certificates it has been decided to give away certificates. On the occasion, leaders of four teams of the youth club were selected. In the coming days, selection of youth heading extensions followed by members will be made.
