Udupi, Jun 21: “‘Janaspandan’, regional-level people’s interactive programmes, which is an ambitious venture of the state administration, is fast emerging as a lifeline for people in the rural areas as it redresses various issues”, said Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon.
Mendon was speaking at the regional-level Janaspandan programme held at Mudarangady Government Pre-University College, near here, on Saturday June 20.
“People’s support is essential for implementing the projects which are introduced by the B S Yeddyurappa-led state administration. Meanwhile, he has urged government officers to behave respectfully towards people and strive to help resolve their various problems”, added Mendon.
Zilla panchayat president Gerald Fernandes, in his presidential address, said that the government programmes will realize their objectives provided officers respond favourably to people’s woes and difficulties.
Mendon handed over the papers to the beneficiaries of various government schemes such as ‘Bhagyalaxmi’, ‘Sandhya Suraksha’, widower’s pension, pension for physically handicapped, ‘Indira Awaz’, ‘Ashraya’ housing scheme and also title deeds to two families residing in Nandikoor, near here, on the same occasion.
Yellur regional zilla panchayat member Gladys Almeida, Mudarangady gram panchayat president Ravindra Prabhu, Kutyar gram panchayat president Nityanand Shetty, Belle gram panchayat president Shashidar Wagle, Majoor gram panchayat president Sugandi and taluk panchayat CEO Ramanand Nayak were the chief guests on the occasion.
Tashildar Prasanna Kumar welcomed and delivered the introductory address. Kaup regional revenue inspector Satyanand Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Mudarangady Government Pre-University College lecturer Suresh Nayak compered the programme.
Meanwhile, Belapu gram panchayat president Deviprasad Shetty alleged that the issues of people residing on the limits of Belapu gram panchayat were not considered at the recently held Kaup regional-level ‘Janaspandan’ programme.
He urged the concerned officers to explain why Belapu villagers were not accommodated in the recently held ‘Janaspandan’ programmes at Padubidri, Katpady, Shirva, and Mudarangady.
