Madikeri, Jun 22: Two young lovers chose to end their lives by jumping into a tank at Gowdalli near Shanivarasante in the district. The fact came to light on Saturday June 20 evening.

Chandan (19), son of Kushalappa Gowda from Gowdalli village and Kavya, daughter of Satish from Hanse village in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district, reportedly started loving each other when they were classmates in PUC at Kaveri PU College, Shanivarasante. Chandan had cut short his schooling thereafter, while Kavya continued her studies in an educational institution for girls in Shanivarasante.

The two had tried to end their lives at Gugugalale last year by consuming poison, but were saved. Chandan, who had left home three days back, claiming that he was going to the house of a friend, had not come back. On Saturday, when the aunt of Chandan carried the cattle to the tank to quench their thirst, she saw bodies of the two lovers floating.

Shanivarasante policemen have registered a case.
