Sringeri: Siblings Drown in River Thunga

Sringeri, Jun 22: Two devotees from Bangalore, who were on a visit to Sringeri Mutt in Chickmagalur district, drowned in River Thunga on the evening of  Saturday June 20. They have been identified as Mani (28) from Ganapatipura Extension and Vinod (25). They had ventured into the river near Gandhi Maidan here along with family, to take bath.

Their mother Rajamma and younger sister Meena, who were sucked in by the whirlpool of the river, cried for help. The brothers jumped into the river to save them, but were washed away. Rajama and Meena succeeded in saving their lives and reaching the shore, some eye witnesses said.
