Bangalore, Jun 24:  In his inaugural remarks at the consultative meeting held in the conference hall of the Vidhan Soudha here on Tuesday June 23, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa gave vent to his anger at the officials who are not enthusiastic in implementing the government schemes. "Insufficient speed in the implementation of the government programmes and lack of coordination between departments have become the stumbling blocks in the state's progress," he thundered.

"This meeting has been convened to strengthen the mutual cooperation between different state departments and also to intensify the implementation of the development and welfare programmes. We want the resources to be property utilized and to ensure that the beneficiaries get the benefits at the earliest," he spelt out. He added that a letter was addressed to all the secretaries in the government to list out the problems and challenges facing them and hoped that they are ready with the lists.

He announced that a programme titled 'Manthana-2' will be held on June 27 and 28 in a resort in the outskirts of the city to address the problems cogitate upon the new programmes and to speed up the implementation part of the programmes. He said, he would hold meetings with the ministers and officials, divided in four groups, do discuss all issues threadbare, before the said programme.

The Chief Minister was particularly worried about the low levels in the important reservoirs in the state which stand at around 50% of the levels they held last year at this time. He was apprehensive about the impact this will have on the power generation and agricultural sector.

On the occasion, he released a booklet being annual brought out by the water resources department, containing information on the works executed by it during the last one year.
