Mangalore: 12-year-old School Girl Crushed to Death Near Haleangady

Mangalore, Jun 25: A school girl met a gory death after being crushed under a steel almirah kept in the class of a government school in Haleangady near here on Wednesday June 24.

The deceased has been identified as 12-year-old Deepika, student of std VII of Golithotta Higher Primary School. The unfortunate incident occurred when Deepika came under the almirah, which was precariously placed in the classroom fell on her during the last period.

Though the teachers and staff rushed her to a nearby hospital, she was declared brought dead in the hospital.

    Plight of our Govt Schools. No proper sanitation, drinking water etc.This on one hand and on the other a lower rung Govt babu clerk could siphon off Rs. 1.37 crore you can imagine where our education cess and taxes are ending up.

    So sad incident. Due to the negligence and dangerously placing a almirah in a class room by the responsible school management, a innocent girl lost her life. This incident must be thoroughly investigated and the responsible person who is responsible for this incident must be punished.
