Mangalore, Jun 26: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Ponnuraj has promised, that the computerization of the office of the deputy commissioner here, which has been partially completed as of now, is targetted to be fully computerized within the next two months. He was addressing a press conference held here on Thursday June 25.

Once the computerization is completed, people would be able get latest information about the fate of their application either through their computers at home or through the gram panchayats. Everything including the present position of the applications, who is handling it, what remarks have been made on the application by which of the officers and who is at present handling or keeping the application pending, will henceforth be available at the touch of a key, he promised. This will save lot of time for the people who otherwise have to come from their places to the district headquarters and waste time and money waiting at the office of the deputy commissioner again and again till their applications are disposed off. All the information will be preserved in the servers of the district administration, he stated.

Once the computerization is completed, the officials would not be able to either erase or modify the remarks recorded by them. Higher officers however, would be able to record modified remarks or instructions, mentioning that this is in replacement of the earlier one.

For the present, all the staff of the office will be trained in handling computer work and in phases, this system will be extended to all the offices of the assistant commissioners and taluk offices in the district, Ponnuraj explained.

Kudos to the DC for planning to go Hi Tech however may I request him to ensure that all taluk offices are manned every day of the week. There are some where the office is only open two three dauys of the week and even then the PIC is not available as gone on outdoor work.

Lets hope the office of the Tahsildar is made more Hi Tech because there is such a backlog to even get orders passed. Good Luck Mr P

Well this was the need of the hour well met by our current D.C. He has been always a dynamic D.C. Thank you & congradulations Mr. Ponnuraj. I would also suggest to him to direct the Traffic Police the following idea, which could work well for the safety of Dakshina Kannada Citizens & if works successful here, can be followed all over India.

All heavy Traffic as Buses, Lorries & trucks should & must only cruise through the extreme Left side of the Road & no over taking be allowed within the City limits. Now at an interval of say 1.5 kilometer or 2 Lay byes be made on left sides of the Road for buses to halt to cater to travelers. So that wont hinder the smooth movement of rest of heavy vehicles still from Left side.

Any violator of this rule must be fined adequately & an unimaginable jail sentence may be awarded quickly. . This will go a long way in the safety of the Citizens, within City limits.
