Sullia: SI Alleged of Torturing Woman, Assaulted

Sullia, Jun 27: An incident of assault on a police officer has been reported on Friday June 26 from Parivarakana here.

Sullia police station sub-inspector Savitrateja was assaulted by one Anil, son of Sundari alleging the SI of torturing his mother. Anil and Sunil, brothers and sons of Sundari are involved in sand trade and police officer was on the spot to inquire the duo about a complaint against them related to the trade by one Vishwa.

It is said that SI who arrived at the duo’s house verbally abused Sunil. When Sundari questioned the police officer on this matter, she was tortured by the SI, it is alleged. Following this an enraged Anil assaulted the SI and in turn Anil was arrested by the police.

Sundari has been admitted to Sullia government hospital. However, circle inspector Lakshman Kumar said that police have not arrested anyone on this matter.
