Kundapur: Sword-wielding Miscreants Chase Youth, Inflict Injuries

Kundapur, Jun 27: A man was chased by a hatchet-wielding gang of trouble mongers at around 8.30 pm on Friday June 26 at Gangolli village in the taluk. The youth was badly injured in the incident.

The victim, Shakir Hussain (30), has been admitted into the local government hospital with severe injuries. Shakir, who is a taxi driver by profession, was returning home after attending to his duties, when four unidentified youths who came in a vehicle, confronted him with iron rod and hatchet in their hands. As he blocked the hatchet as it was flashed at his neck with his hands, his hand bore the brunt of the attack. The people immediately chased the assaulters and succeeded in catching hold of three of them.

It is learnt, the assaulters were of Rajasthan origin. Reasons for the assault are as yet unknown. Policemen have been investigating.
