Mangalore: Malabar Bank theft – Car Used by Thieves Seized from Konaje

Mangalore, Jun 27: Malappuram police have seized an Indica car used for Periya North Malabar Grameen Bank theft case from Mudipu under Konaje police station limits. With this the focus falls on Karnataka as far as intensified investigations are concerned.

On information that a car with the number plate bearing Karnataka registration was seen roaming in Periya a day prior to the bank theft, the police conduct investigations on this line. The police suspect that the car which was stolen from Pandavoor in Malappuran might have been used to assist bank theft.

Police have also informed that the car displayed fake number plate. Inspector general of police Tomin J Thachankary declared that the person who will pass on any information about the thieves will be rewarded with Rs 1 lac and personal details of the informants will be kept secret.
  
It can be recalled here that the bank within the Bekal police station limits was looted of Rs 3 crore worth gold jewellery and Rs 6.75 lac from its safe room on June 18.
