Mangalore, Jun 28: A quarrel between rickshaw drivers at Thokkottu near Ullal on Saturday June 27 caused serious injury to three drivers who were then hospitalized.

Farooq, resident of Nadupilar, Iqbal, resident of Kallapu, and Hyder, resident of Bantwal, living in Kallapu, are the hospitalized auto drivers. Farooq and Iqbal have serious injuries while Hyder was allegedly stabbed with a knife.

The quarrel started when Hyder refused to follow the orders of the auto drivers’ union. The union was supposed to park only five autos near the new bus stand as per the directions passed in a meeting between the union and town municipal president along with police officers, recently.

A senior member of the union and former president of the town municipal standing committee, Kunhimonu, said that Hyder was uncontrollable. When other auto drivers tried to make him understand the rules, he lost control and started heaping verbal abuse on the others.

Following this, some of the auto drivers gathered at the police station to complain against him. However, while they were at the police station he stabbed two auto drivers.

Hyder is new to the auto park at Thokkottu and had not registered his name with the police station.

Hyder was also injured in the altercation and some auto drivers alleged that he escaped from the spot but was caught by police and later admitted to the hospital.

Ullal police registered a case in this regard.

Survival! Let us look at it that way. Or else why one Indian should hurt the other.Blood is precious. Do not shed it for no good reason. Population growth and inadequate employment are the root causes of this unending misery.
