Puttur: CM Assures Exempting Autos in DK, Udupi from Fitting Gas Kits

Puttur, Jun 28: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has assured that the autorickshaws of the districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada (DK) will be exempted from fitting gas kits. The decision in writing will be issued after discussing with Transport Minister R Ashok on his returns from his foreign tour, he said. 

The assurance was given to the delegation of BMS Autorickshaw Drivers’ Association led by MLA Mallika Prasad, which met the CM in Bangalore, recently in the presence of home minister Dr V S Acharya and DK district in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar. CM has assured to issue the orders exempting the autos of the region from fitting gas kits, informed B K Devappa Gowda from the association.     

The delegation brought to the notice of CM the technical difficulties faced to fit the gas kits to the old model four stroke autos in use in the region. Moreover, lack of required number of pump station in the region too has been a hindrance, the delegation informed CM

    If the decision is based on technical difficulties, then let only old Autos be exempted from installing the gas kits. Over a period of time these will be eventually phased out.
