Mangalore: Group Clashes, Three Injured, Vehicles Damaged near Kumble

Mangalore, Jun 29: After group clashes erupted in Seetangoli and Mayippady villages near Kumble on Sunday June 28 evening, three persons suffered injuries while a car and two auto rickshaws were damaged.

It is said, some people travelling in a bus and some other vehicles pertaining to a marriage party from Kudreppady to Mayippady, shouted slogans against a particular community. As people who were playing cricket at Kudreppady objected to the slogans, frictions erupted.

As people travelling in three cars questioned the youths playing cricket about the objections raised, a crowd pelted stones at the cars. In relation to this incident, a gang of five miscreants threw stones at and damaged an auto rickshaw near the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation area. Auto rickshaw driver Dileep D'Souza apart from passengers Dinesh and Satya were injured. Rickshaws were stoned at Mugu village at night.

Kasargod deputy superintendent of police Abdul Gafoor guided the Kumble and Kasargod policemen in providing tight security at Seetangoli and Mayippady. A few have been taken into custody by the policemen for questioning.
