Bangalore, Jun 29: Anandan (47), who was working as the gunman of former union railway minister Jaffer Shareif, committed suicide at his police quarters on Sunday June 28, by turning the gun on himself.

Anandan was living along with wife Seethalakshmi and son Vighnesh at the police residential quarters in Magadi Road here, since the last eight years. He was a head constable in the VVIP department. Vighnesh is in the ninth standard. He was the gunman for Jaffer Sharief since the last 15 years. After coming back from duty on Sunday evening, he shot a bullet through his temple when he was alone at home. The bullet pierced through the left side of the forehead.

The incident came to light when his wife and son came back home at around 7.30 pm. In a suicide note left behind, he said he himself was responsible for the suicide and that the family problems had driven him to this situation. He also requested the government to provide a job to his wife.

His wife said, Anandan, who was very honest, was worried that he could not build a house of his own and that he was depressed since about a week.
