Puttur Court Orders Probe into Cooperative Bank Affairs

Puttur, Jun 30: On Monday June 29, Puttur Junior Magistrate First Class court instructed the Uppinangady policemen to investigate the allegations of fraud in the dealings of Uppinangady Cooperative Agricultural Bank and submit a report thereto, to the court. It may be recalled, that the Lokayukta has already ordered an inquiry by the Corps of Detectives into the affairs of the said bank.

The court, which took up a private complaint filed by Gopalakrishna Bhat Puttur, a former president of the Bank, passed the above order. The complaint has sought to indict a former president, current president, managing director and four employees for causing loss to the Bank through wrongdoings. The complaint says, these people had connived to alter the bank records and caused huge loss to the bank.
