Belgaum, Jul 1: Minister for higher education Aravind Limabavali said that an examination modeled on Common Entrance Test (CET) will be introduced for admissions into degree and post-graduation (PG) courses from the next academic year.

Limabavali speaking after attending a meeting on Tuesday June 30 to deliberate on academic issues said that as per study undertaken by state and central governments it has come to light that students seeking entry into bachelor degrees and other PG degrees are facing problems at present. In this backdrop, the state has decided to conduct respective university-level examination modeled on CET and thereafter based on marks obtained by students; they will be eligible to gain entry into their chosen course, he said.  

Further, it has been decided to revise the syllabus as per today’s requirement. A sub-committee formed for the purpose has been asked to conduct a survey in this regard and submit a report. The government has also decided to reopen all the colleges in the state at the same time from the next academic year and has plans to formulate rules whereby all the colleges will be ordered to start their academic year between July 15 and 20, he said.
