Mangalore: Symposium on Konkani Poetry on July 5

Mangalore, Jul 1:
A symposium on ‘Present times: Reflections in contemporary Konkani poetry’ and poet’s meet will be held at Sahodaya Sabha Hall near Balmatta here on Sunday July 5.

The symposium organized by Sahitya Akademi and Kavita Trust will be inaugurated by Krishna Kimbahune of Akademi regional office, Mumbai at 10.00 am. `Rumdi Fulam’, an anthology by M P Rodrigues will also be released on the occasion.
 
Konkani poet Nagesh Karmali, trust president Melvyn Rodrigues and akademi Konkani Advisory Board (KAB) convenor Pundalik Naik will participate in the inaugural programme.
 
In first session of the symposium to be held at 1.30 pm, Rajay Pawar and Henry M Pernal, poets from Goa will present their papers. KAB member Fr Francis Rodrigues will preside. In the second session a poet’s meet will be held from 4.00 pm to 5.15 pm wherein poets, Andrew L D’Cunha, Eric Soans, Wilson Kateel, Dimple Fernandes, Mahesh Nayak, M P Rodrigues, Shakunthala R Kini and Robert Fernandes will participate, stated a press release from the trust.
