Karkala: Spare Parts Shop Reduced to Ashes – Loss of Assets Worth Rs 8 lac

Karkala, Jul 2: An incident wherein a spare parts shop was reduced into ashes due to electric short circuit resulting in a loss of approximately Rs 8 lac has been reported on Tuesday, June 30 late night at Melpet, Hebri here.

The accident occurred at Pragati Enterprises, a spare parts shop owned by Sudhakar Acharya, Shivapura at about 11 pm and though fire fighters arrived at the spot immediately the damage was done. It is said that Acharya had filled his shop with stock on the day the unfortunate incident occurred. The presence of tyres and engine oil fuelled the wide spread of fire increasing the extent of damage.

Apart from spare parts, documents and Rs 15,000 in cash has been destroyed. A case has been registered in Hebri police station.
