Kundapur, Jul 3: The district administration has called for applications from aspiring persons to form the new governing council of the Kollur Goddess Mookambika Temple for the next three years. July 15 will be the last day for submitting nominations, and scores of people have lined up to get into the council.

Out of the nine posts in the council, one member each has been reserved for women, priests and SC/ST community.  Names of Krishnaprasad Adyantaya, who was the managing trustee of the council during the last three years, Byndoor MLA Lakshminarayan, former MLA B Appanna Hegde and leading BJP activist from Byndoor Babu Hegde Taggarse are making the rounds for the post of the managing trustee.

Lakshminarayan however, clarified that he does not nurse any strong aspiration to head the governing council. "If the people so want, I will take up the responsibility," he said. Krishnaprasad Adyantaya said he would submit his application on Thursday July 2 and that if the leaders so wish, he is prepared to don the mantle for three more years. Babu Hegde expressed the confidence that he would be chosen this time, as he could not get the post last time.
